So many fruits and vegetables in the world, but how do they help?
- Red foods, like tomatoes and watermelon, contain lycopene may help with fighting prostate cancer and heart disease
- White foods, like cauliflower, contains sulforaphane may help with protection against some cancers
- Green vegetables, like spinach and kale, contain lutein and zeaxanthin which may help protect against age-related eye disease
- Blue and purple foods, like blueberries and eggplant, contain anthocyanins which may protect the body from cancer
My absolute favorite way to get my fruits in everyday is making a smoothie. As I have gotten older I have noticed that I am not as hungry and want something gentle for my stomach. I use almond milk, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and banana to make mine. Comment below what your favorite fruit is.
